Ethical Guidelines

The International Journal of Women and Children (IJWC) is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by the Center for Gender and Children Studies (PSGA), Universitas Cenderawasih. The journal is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and follows the principles and best practices set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

This ethical statement serves as a guideline for all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher, to ensure academic integrity, transparency, and trust in scholarly publishing.

Duties of Authors

Authors submitting manuscripts to IJWC are required to ensure that:

  1. The manuscript is an original work and has not been previously published or simultaneously submitted elsewhere.
  2. All sources are properly cited and acknowledged in accordance with academic standards.
  3. The manuscript is free from plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, and citation manipulation.
  4. Research data and findings are presented accurately, honestly, and transparently.
  5. All individuals who have made significant contributions to the research are listed as authors.
  6. Any potential conflict of interest must be clearly disclosed.
  7. Research involving human participants, particularly women and/or children, has obtained ethical approval from an authorized ethics committee.

Duties of Editors

Editors of IJWC are responsible for:

  1. Ensuring the academic quality and integrity of published articles.
  2. Evaluating manuscripts fairly and objectively without discrimination.
  3. Maintaining the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and related information.
  4. Avoiding conflicts of interest in the editorial decision-making process.
  5. Making publication decisions based solely on the manuscript’s academic merit and peer review outcomes.
  6. Taking appropriate action in cases of suspected ethical misconduct in accordance with COPE guidelines.

Duties of Reviewers

Reviewers (peer reviewers) are expected to:

  1. Conduct reviews objectively, professionally, and within the agreed timeframe.
  2. Maintain confidentiality of the manuscripts under review.
  3. Provide constructive and scholarly feedback to improve the quality of manuscripts.
  4. Declare any conflict of interest and decline the review if such conflict exists.
  5. Notify the editor of any suspected plagiarism, duplication, or ethical concerns identified during the review process.

Duties of the Publisher

As the publisher, the Center for Gender and Children Studies (PSGA), Universitas Cenderawasih is responsible for:

  1. Supporting editorial independence and ensuring freedom from commercial or institutional influence.
  2. Upholding ethical publishing standards and supporting the peer review process.
  3. Ensuring open access to published articles.
  4. Maintaining the journal’s sustainability, transparency, and professional management.

Plagiarism Policy

IJWC has a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism. All submitted manuscripts will be screened using plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism will be rejected or retracted depending on the severity of the violation.

Handling of Ethical Misconduct

In cases of alleged publication misconduct, the editorial board of IJWC will:

  1. Conduct a thorough investigation and seek clarification from the parties involved.
  2. Take corrective actions in accordance with COPE procedures.
  3. Apply sanctions such as manuscript rejection, article retraction, or submission bans when necessary.

Open Access Policy

IJWC operates under a full open access policy, allowing all published articles to be freely accessed, read, downloaded, and distributed for academic and non-commercial purposes, provided proper attribution is given to the authors and the journal.
